There are four kinds of materials for ceiling air diffusers: wood, aluminum alloy, ABS, and rigid PVC materials.
1. aluminum alloy material
Aluminum alloy is widely used in existing central air conditioning users.
1) During refrigeration in summer, if the air supply temperature is too low, the insulation is not done well during construction, and the air volume is too small, the air outlet will produce condensation, and there will be water droplets in serious cases.
2) Aluminum alloy material profiles are processed by cutting, welding, painting, baking paint, and other production processes. The harm of paint is well known. A diffuser slowly releases formaldehyde through air transmission in the process of refrigeration and heating, which unconsciously affects your health.
2. PVC material
PVC is actually a vinyl polymer, and its material is an amorphous material. When it is used in household central air conditioning, there is less condensation; It has nonflammability, high strength, climate change resistance, and excellent geometric stability. PVC has strong resistance to oxidants, reduction, and strong acids; The density of rigid PVC material is high (ABS ≈ about 1.04, rigid PVC ≈ about 1.04). The weight of the ceiling air diffuser of the same size and area is about 1.5 times that of ABS and aluminum alloy. The impact strength is also inferior to ABS material, but the price is slightly lower.
PVC ceiling air diffuser is made by the assembly. It will turn yellow and discolor seriously after it is installed. Moreover, when blowing hot air in winter, the temperature of the air outlet is high, and the nature of PVC is not resistant to high temperatures, so the PVC air outlet is very easy to soften and deform. What is more serious is that the ceiling air diffuser made of PVC material will decompose due to high temperature when the air conditioner is heated in winter, which will generate hydrogen chloride and gases harmful to the human body! The weight of the ceiling air diffuser of the same size and area is about 1.5~1.6 times that of ABS and aluminum alloy. Think about it: when a ceiling air diffuser is made, it changes color, deforms, and has harmful substances
(the difference between ABS and PVC ceiling air diffuser profiles is to use fire, ABS has an open fire (materials can be added to smolder), and PVC is flame-retardant and emits black smoke.
3. ABS profile material (plastic steel ceiling air diffuser)
PS foaming board + alloy material; Plastic extruded profile is a new material of "replacing wood with plastic". It is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as the main raw material through a special foaming process. The product has the advantages of moisture-proof, flame-retardant (self-extinguishing), non deformation, non-toxic, beautiful, strong anti-aging ability, excellent corrosion resistance, weather resistance, anti-corrosion, waterproof, sound insulation, heat preservation, insulation, and other outstanding advantages, According to the requirements of users and according to the decoration requirements, profiles can be assembled into various styles and sizes of ceiling air diffusers, but PS material ceiling air diffuser connection and production processes are various, which is the main reason for its high price.
In addition, due to the addition of alloy materials, the product quality is relatively fragile. When installing the air vent in winter, the air vent is very easy to crack when hitting the nail gun or self-tapping screw.
4. wooden materials
A wooden ceiling air diffuser is easier to integrate with decoration in a specific decoration style. However, when heating in winter, due to the large temperature difference between the air conditioner and the air conditioner, the ceiling air diffuser is easy to deform, cracks, and even mildew and rot.
The cost of cutting and assembling the wooden ceiling air diffuser itself is not cheap, and the relative price is not low.
The performance test of plastic ABS should pay attention to:
1. General performance
The appearance of ABS is an opaque and ivory granular material, which is non-toxic, tasteless, and has low water absorption. Its products can be painted in various colors and have 90% high gloss. ABS has good adhesion with other materials and is easy to be printed, coat, and plate on the surface. The oxygen index of ABS is 18.2, which is a flammable polymer. The flame is yellow, with black smoke, scorched but not dripping, and emits a special cinnamon flavor.
ABS is a kind of resin with very good comprehensive properties. It has high impact strength and surface hardness in a relatively wide temperature range. Its thermal deformation temperature is higher than that of PA and PVC, and its dimensional stability is good.
The fluidity of ABS melt is better than PVC and PC, but worse than PE, PA, and PS, similar to POM and hips. ABS is a non-Newtonian fluid. Its melt viscosity is related to processing temperature and shear rate, but it is more sensitive to shear rate.
2. Mechanical property
ABS has excellent mechanical properties and excellent impact strength, which can be used at extremely low temperatures. Even if ABS products are damaged, it can only be a tensile failure, not impact failure. ABS has excellent wear resistance, good dimensional stability, and oil resistance. It can be used for bearings under medium load and speed. The creep property of ABS is larger than PSF and PC, but smaller than PA and POM. The bending strength and compressive strength of ABS are poor among plastics. The mechanical properties of ABS are greatly affected by temperature.
3. Thermal Properties
ABS is an amorphous polymer with no obvious melting point; The melt viscosity is high, the fluidity is poor, the weather resistance is poor, and ultraviolet light can make the color change; The thermal deformation temperature is 70-107 ℃ (about 85), and the product can be increased by about 10 ℃ after annealing. It is sensitive to temperature and shear rate; ABS can still show certain toughness at -40 ℃ and can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40 ℃ to 85 ℃.
4. Electrical performance
ABS has good electrical insulation and is hardly affected by temperature, humidity, and frequency. It can be used in most environments.
5. Environmental performance
ABS is not affected by water, inorganic salts, alkali alcohols, hydrocarbon solvents, and a variety of acids, but it is soluble in ketones and chlorinated hydrocarbons, and stress cracking will occur when corroded by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil, etc.
